Make room for play every day

Small ways to keep curious minds engaged without turning the day into a checklist.

Play and exploration can make ordinary days more interesting. The best activity is one your animal can enjoy safely and leave when they have had enough.

Start with what they like

Some dogs enjoy sniffing games, while some cats prefer chasing a wand toy or exploring a new perch. Notice what your companion chooses and offer short, varied opportunities rather than insisting on one activity.

Keep it simple

Try hiding a favorite toy, rotating a few familiar toys, or using a suitable food puzzle. Supervise new items and remove anything that breaks or could be swallowed.

Give them a choice

A quiet place to rest matters as much as a chance to play. Let your animal pause, move away, or return later. Adjust the activity to their mobility, comfort and interest.

A comfortable routine depends on your animal’s age, health, temperament and environment. Watch what they enjoy, offer choices, and ask a veterinarian when health or behavior changes concern you.
