Spaces that help cats feel at home

A few thoughtful places to climb, watch, hide and rest can make an ordinary room more interesting.

Cats often use a room in more than one way. They may want to observe from above, disappear for a quiet pause, or follow a play routine they know well.

Think vertically

A stable perch or shelf can add another way to use a room. Check that every surface is secure and that your cat can get on and off comfortably. A simple view near a safe window can be engaging without adding clutter.

Respect a hiding place

A box, covered bed or quiet corner can give your cat a choice when the home is noisy. Let them come out in their own time. Put resting places away from sudden interruptions where possible.

Refresh, do not overwhelm

Rotate a small number of toys or add a short play session at a predictable time. Watch how your cat responds. If an item is damaged or has loose parts, remove it. A familiar routine can be as valuable as a new object.
